 Hollis Brown

More fact from fiction - Brooklyn based Hollis Brown takes their name from a really disturbing Bob Dylan song...we won't go into details about the story/lyrics but just know that although the Dylan song's a real downer, this band is great to see live - just four guys that seem like they'd be more likely to be from the south than NY, playing simple and heartfelt music.

     Lucero

Memphis based Lucero is one of our absolute all-time favorite bands.  Genre busting, sometimes described as an alt-country-punk-rock band their energy and passion and somehow, front man Ben Nichols' voice, have stood the test of time.  Ben sounds like you might sound if you chugged a bottle of bourbon soaked rusty nails and cigarettes but somehow it's beautiful.  Lyrically gifted, Talent runs Ben's his family as his brother directed the recent critically acclaimed movie "Mud".  Don't confuse Lucero with a Latin pop singer of the same name - this band is one of the most talented bands to have ever walked this earth and their enormous and incredible collection of homemade tattoos on axe man Brian Veneble's massive arms is nothing short of amazing.  Their live shows are the stuff of legend.

 Marquise Knox

Marquise Knox was born playing the blues.  The St. Louis based bluesman (boy?) released his first album "Manchild" at the age of 16...yes 16, but sounded like a grizzled 45 year old.  Now able to legally drink at the joints he plays (barely), Marquise continues to hone his bone deep blues legacy.  His style is bawdy and charismatic, (check his cover version of "Everything I Like To Eat Starts With a "P"), and his guitar skills are something to see - meaty fingers flying up and down the guitar neck like a pack of tiny wild huskies.  He's appeared on stage with some of the blues legends like B.B. King; he's keeping the blues not just alive, but meaningful and infused with energy for a new generation.  Sticks close to home but appears at many festivals and even played a recent gig in Alaska...if you find yourself in St. Louis try to catch this rising star.
